Questions and answers
Where do I find my QR codes after ordering?
After payment, we create your QR codes and you receive a confirmation by e-mail. Sign in at www.lumacards.com/dashboard with the e-mail address used for your order, then open “My cards”: each QR code is listed with its own address (www.lumacards.com/c/…), its destination, its files to download and its validity date.
How do I choose or change a QR code's destination?
In “My cards”, enter the address you want in the Destination field, then click Save: the change is immediate, with no reprinting. The address must start with https:// and contain no spaces. You can change it as often as you like: a page on your website, a video, a menu, a form or an online document.
Which file should I use for print and for screens?
Each QR code can be downloaded as SVG, a vector format for print, and as PNG for the web, screens and presentations. The file includes the white margin needed for scanning: keep it, keep a dark code on a light background and do not stretch the code. Test a scan on the final material before any large print run.
How do I organise several QR codes?
Give each QR code a name, for example “Shop window poster” or “Trade show flyer”, and an area or person if useful, then click Save. These names appear in your dashboard and in your exports: you can easily compare your materials and see which one gets scanned.
The QR code shows “This link is no longer active” or will not scan: why?
This message appears when the QR code has been switched off, its period has ended or its destination is not valid: check in “My cards” that it is marked Active, its “Valid until” date and its destination. If the camera does not detect the code, the cause is usually a code printed too small, poor contrast, a trimmed white margin or a glossy surface reflecting the light. iPhones and most Android phones read QR codes with the camera, without an app.
Can I pause a QR code temporarily?
Yes: in “My cards”, click Switch off. Anyone scanning the code then sees “This link is no longer active”, and Switch back on puts it back into service with the same destination. Switching a code off does not change its end date.
What statistics are available?
In “My cards”, each QR code shows its number of reads (scans), in total and over 30 days. The Overview page shows the last 30 days for all your codes: reads per day, reads by card (here, by QR code) and reads by country. For a detailed analysis, download “Activity: reads, taps and ratings (CSV)” from Account > Your data: one row per scan, with the date, the code, its name, the type of device, and the language and country of the phone. Every opening is counted.
How do I get more QR codes?
Click Order at the top of your dashboard, then choose Dynamic QR: batches of 5 or 20 QR codes, for 1, 2 or 3 years. The new codes are created after payment and appear in “My cards”, with their own end date. To share the management with a colleague, add their address in Account > Colleagues (up to five).
What data is collected about the people who scan?
Scans are recorded without any personal data: no name and no IP address, only the date, the type of device, and the language and country of the phone. After the redirection, the privacy policy of the destination website applies. Your data is kept for the duration of the service and archived for 12 months after it ends, so that you can reactivate it; to have it deleted, write to us using the “Need help?” form in the Help tab.
What happens at the end of the period I chose?
The end date is shown under each QR code in “My cards” and in Account > Overview. We let you know by e-mail from three months beforehand, and the “To extend” block appears on your Overview page: choose 1, 2 or 3 years, then click Extend, at the current rate. Nothing renews on its own and nothing is charged unless you act. Without an extension, your QR codes show “This link is no longer active” from the end date; their settings are kept for 12 months, and an extension during that time reactivates them as they were, with the same addresses: nothing to reprint.
