Tips

What goes on a shop gift card

  • An amount : Printed (25. 50. 100 €) or filled in at the till: in shops, an open amount is the most common.
  • Where to use it : In store, on your website, or both: say so clearly on the back.
  • A unique code : A different QR code or number on each card, to register it in your till or on your online shop.
  • Validity period : A date or a period, shown on the back.
  • Your sector : Use the colours of your shopfront or your gift wrap: the card should be recognisable at a glance.

Recommended finishes

For a card worth keeping

  • Foil or spot UV : On the logo, for a card that shines on the counter.
  • Sleeve or box : The card is given as a gift in its own right, with packaging in your brand.
  • Barcode : If your till already reads barcodes, a barcode can replace the QR code.

  3. 3. Approve the proofYou receive a free digital proof. Nothing is printed without your approval.
  4. 4. Receive your cardsProduction in 6 to 10 working days after approval, delivery across Europe and the UK.

Variable data

Different on every card, always in black

Barcode, QR code, number, and for student ID cards the photo and name: this data changes from one card to the next. We print it in black, on a light area of the design, from your Excel file.

Areas to be filled in by hand (amount, name, signature) are always on a light background. On paper, you write on them directly. On PVC, this is rare: as an option, they are printed on a signature panel, like the signature strip on a bank card; otherwise we replace them with your text. Stamp cards, for their part, are printed on card.

Materials

PVC or paper?

  • 0.76 mm PVC : credit card size, sturdy, with optional foil, chip or magnetic stripe. PVC gift cards
  • 350 g card : more economical, you write directly on it in pen. Paper gift cards
  • Packaging : branded sleeves, envelopes and boxes. Gift card packaging

Frequently asked questions

Your questions about gift card templates

Can the card be used in store and on our website?

Yes: print a unique code on the back (QR code, number or barcode) that your till and your website can read. We print the codes from your file, one per card.

Can we have several amounts in the same order?

Yes. Each amount becomes a version of the card; you state the quantity for each version in your request.

When should we order for the festive season?

Three to four weeks before going on sale: proof, production in 6 to 10 working days and delivery, with a safety margin.

Do the templates cost extra?

The template is not charged separately: adapting it to your logo and text is priced together with the printing, in your quote.

Can the colours, font or layout be changed?

Yes. We use your brand’s colours and typography. If you would like an entirely new design, say so in your request: we will quote for a bespoke design.

Can the templates be downloaded?

The templates are not available for download: we adapt them for you and send you a proof. If you already have your file, simply attach it to your request.

What is the minimum quantity?

From 50 cards on PVC and 100 cards on paper.

Write-on areas

The clear adhesive film, open: it folds over the card once the photo is stuck on and the details written.

Signature panel option: on PVC, the marked areas are printed on a signature panel, like the signature strip on a bank card, for writing with a ballpoint pen.

On PVC, handwritten fill-in areas are rare: without the signature panel option, the fill-in block is removed (this is the version shown) and replaced with your text if needed.

On paper, the fill-in areas are written on directly in pen.

Stamp card: printed on card, with no code; each box measures at least 13 mm, for a standard stamp.

Write-on card with adhesive film: the photo is stuck in the frame, the details are written in pen, then the pre-glued clear film folds over to protect everything.

The QR code or barcode is printed in black, different on every card; a visible number can be added on request. The names and text are examples: we replace them with yours.
